The following databases are provclassed by Chicago Public Schools for all students, teachers and administrators in the district. These databases – which can be used both at school and at home – are accessed with a 4-digit code that is unique to each school. Please contact your school librarian or the Department of Libraries if you need this code for your school. Department of Libraries staff can be contacted at (773) 553-6210.

Student Resources Student Resources in Context: Offers contextual information on a broad range of topics, people, places, and events. Includes authoritative reference content , full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites.
Research Context Research in Context: Offers middle schools students primary source documents from the American Journey series; a wealth of award-winning references including overviews and critical essays; biographies, multimedia features and much more.
Kids InfoBits: Offers K-5 students an easy to use graphic interface including a topic tree search and age-appropriate, curriculum-related magazine, newspaper and reference content.
Encyclopedia Britannica: Provides millions of articles on as many topics. Includes Internet links, magazine articles, teacher resources, timelines and more. Select the appropriate grade level once on the site.
Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol: Provides Britannica’s Spanish language version at two different levels.
Teaching Books Teaching Books: Provides original, in-studio movies of authors and illustrators; a wealth of multimedia resources on K-­12 books that generate enthusiasm for books and reading.
